When to Call a Service Professional
If your water heater or hot water dispenser is no longer producing hot water, contact a service provider for repair and replacement services. Should your water heater make strange noises, like banging, popping, or rumbling, contact your local licensed and insured service professional to discuss possible sediment buildup. Seek the help of a trusted water heater service provider if you’ve noticed high energy bills, unusual smells, or fluctuating water temperatures. Factors like age, leaks, and the presence of water pooling around the base of your water heater all contribute to your need to call a water heater service provider.

Abdi came to our house today to look at our plumbing problems. He was very kind and patient, clearly explaining the various options we have. He is a great communicator and has a very kind manner. The only questionable thing is that he prefers Inter Milan over Ajax (European soccer … sorry) but we gladly forgive him. Thank you Mr. Rooter for sending us such an excellent technician.

What I have learned is that it is important to find service companies that I can trust. This is the second time I have used this company and both times I have been impressed by their service. I had the pleasure of having Richard M. to look at the plumbing concern and he was beyond fantastic. Highly recommend this company!!

No one ever wants to deal with a plumbing issue. The front office was amazing and told me they would indeed be able to send out a plumber without a long wait! They were courteous and understanding on the phone. Having to deal with an issue like this right before I’m supposed to leave for work was making me super emotional.Today was my first time having to call a plumber and Keltie made it bearable. Every place I called couldn’t come for a few hours and I had water leaking everywhere in my bathroom. I called Mr Rooter and they sent Keltie out. She arrived within 30 min of my call. She went above and beyond and explained the issue to me.Turns out the clog in the toilet happened due to years of buildup and wasn’t my fault! (Previous owners) She gave me my options and explained everything to me as she fixed it. She was very personable, thorough and knowledgeable. The company gets 5 stars but Keltie gets 10! Mr Rooter, Keltie was a godsend and deserves all the accolades! Will always recommend this company! Quick, thorough and fairly priced. Also huge plus they text you with a location tracker for your plumber so you know how long you will be waiting. Thanks again you guys saved me a headache and potential future issues!!

Frequently Asked Questions About Water Heater Repair & Replacement in Sturgeon County, Alberta
For all your water heater repair and replacement questions, you may find the answers you’re looking for below. Contact the team at Mr. Rooter Plumbing® in Sturgeon County, Alberta for more information about our business and plumbing services.
-
Any issues with water heaters should be left in the capable hands of trained and licensed service providers with experience working on water heaters like yours. Contact licensed and insured plumbing service providers in your area for water heater repair for peace of mind that it will be repaired to a high standard. Personal recommendations from loved ones and online reviews can go a long way toward ensuring you choose a trusted water heater repair expert in your area. Workmanship and parts guarantees can be helpful for making you feel confident when you’ve hired a service professional to perform water heater repairs or maintenance.
-
Diagnose water heater problems relating to no hot water by checking the heating elements, thermostat, and power supply before calling a service professional if you suspect an issue you can’t resolve. Seek the help of a trained service provider for repairs or replacement if you have a water heater leak due to a faulty pressure relief valve, a loose connection, or rust. If your water heater is making strange noises you’ve never heard before, it may be due to sediment buildup – a simple tank flush can often resolve the issue with the help of a service professional. If your water heater is in need of repairs, maintenance, or total replacement, outsource these tasks to a licensed and insured service professional for peace of mind.
-
When you believe your water heater is in need of repairs, read the manufacturer’s tag since it’s not always cost-effective to repair a water heater once it’s 8-12 years old. Calculate whether the amount of money you’ll spend on water heater repairs is going to make more financial sense than replacing the entire water heater. When you’ve already had to repair your water heater multiple times, replacing it makes more sense from the perspective of hassle and money. When you’re unsure whether water heater repairs or a total replacement is the best option, considering your water heater’s current performance and efficiency can be helpful.
-
Total water heater replacement with a trusted expert, rather than repairs, is a better option if your water heater is leaking due to damage or rust. Call a service professional to inspect your water heater’s inlet and outlet pipes if you’ve noticed leaks from any water heater pipes or fittings. A water heater leaking from pressure relief valves can seem challenging and stressful to fix, but it normally only requires replacement by trusted service professionals. When you spot a leak coming from your water heater’s valve, check that the valve is fully closed and look for signs of a broken plastic valve or a failing rubber gasket.
-
How much your water heater repair bill will be depends on how old it is and its current condition before having repairs completed. The kind of water heater you have can impact your expected repair bill, with prices varying for tank, tankless, electric, and gas water heaters. Calculating average repair costs for water heaters is typically not easy to do when water heaters can have different issues like leaks, sediment buildup, and broken parts like thermostats and heating elements. Because labour rates for water heater repairs vary regionally and in different towns and cities, the total bill you receive can differ based on where you live.
-
The costs associated with replacing an old water heater vary based on whether you’re replacing it with a gas, electric, tank, or tankless model. A water heater with a large tank or a high flow rate typically costs more than one with a smaller tank or a lower flow rate. Many surprising factors contribute to a water heater replacement bill, like the complexity of the installation, your chosen service professional, whether or not you need permits, and your location. For a more accurate idea of water heater replacement costs in your area, contact your local trusted service professional for a job estimate.
-
When your water heater is old, inefficient, and expensive to run, it’s a good time to replace it with a modern, more efficient model. Replacing an old water heater makes sense when your repair bill for it in the last year has equalled or exceeded half the cost of a new unit. Contact your local service professional to discuss replacing your water heater as soon as possible when you notice that corrosion is forming or it’s starting to leak. Explore water heater upgrades when you’re tired of dealing with sediment buildup, a lack of essential advancements, and a water heater that’s not fit for purpose.
-
Your new water heater type contributes to the timeframe for water heater installation with a water heater expert, with some models taking longer than others. The need for new plumbing connections or repairs to old ones contribute to the timeframe for water heater replacement. Your water heater replacement timeframe can be extended when your plumbing service provider must replace or install new gas lines or modify old water heaters to remove them. A straightforward water heater removal and installation in your home will only take a few hours for a competent and trusted service professional to complete.
-
The average lifespan of a water heater is the benchmark for when homeowners choose to replace their water heaters with new, more efficient models. As a general rule, tank water heaters work at their best for around 8-12 years, but your high-efficiency water heater may work well for closer to 10-15 years. If you’ve looked after your tankless water heater over its lifetime and ensured excellent installation when it was new, it’s not uncommon for it to last 15-20 years. A lack of maintenance, poor water quality, performance problems, and ongoing issues can all contribute to a water heater not lasting as long as it was expected to.
-
There’s a chance that investing in a high-efficiency water heater for a house on the market will be a great decision for increasing interest and possibly even the sale price. In some situations, prospective property purchasers will prioritize viewing homes where the owners have invested time and effort into worthwhile upgrades like water heaters that make their properties appear more cared for. A return on an investment in the property world is never guaranteed, but homeowners may see the value in upgrading other fixtures and fittings alongside their water heater to improve their chances. When searching for a home to buy, be sure to evaluate the local market conditions, as they, along with upgrades such as new water heaters, influence property values.
